Song of the Day #2,654: ‘Downtown’ – Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

macklemore_downtownWe have repeats in the 9th, 10th and 11th positions on Billboard’s Hot 100 this week. In order, they are Silento’s ‘Watch Me,’ Selena Gomez’s ‘Good For You‘ and Major Lazer’s ‘Lean On.’

The Silento track is rather absurd, though strangely catchy. But I really like the other two: Gomez’s bid for an adult audience is going well, and Major Lazer just keeps on growing on me.

Song of the Day #2,653: ‘Locked Away’ – R. City Featuring Adam Levine

r_city_locked_awayHolding strong at #7 is The Weeknd with ‘Can’t Feel My Face,’ an undeniable hit and his second appearance in the top ten this week.

Song of the Day #2,652: ‘Wildest Dreams’ – Taylor Swift

taylor_swift_wildest_dreamsIn Billboard’s fourth and fifth spots are a couple of repeats — one I like and one I loathe. At #4 is Fetty Wap with the horrible ‘679‘ and rounding out the top five is Shawn Mendes with the respectable ‘Stitches.’

just_bieber_whatAt some point over the past few months, hating on Justin Bieber officially got old and people suddenly liked him again.

The turning point seems to be tied to today’s SOTD, and Billboard’s #3 song, ‘What Do You Mean?’ The seductive tropical beat and dreamy vocals hit just the right note for fans and critics and the comeback was under way!

Song of the Day #2,650: ‘Hotline Bling’ – Drake

drake_hotline_blingIt’s time for another installment of What the Kids are Listening To! It’s been a couple of months since I featured Billboard’s top hits, presumably enough time for some turnover in those ranks.

Or not. At #1 this week is The Weeknd with ‘The Hills,’ a song I featured on August 28 when it was #5 on this list. I caught it on the rise back then, because this is the fifth straight week at #1 for that track.
