Song of the Day #1,891: ‘Wandering [Demo]’ – Ben Folds

folds_retrospectiveI have two main points to make in today’s Random Weekend selection.

The first is that Ben Folds is such a great songwriter that even his B-sides can be powerful and moving.

‘Wandering,’ released on Folds’ Speed Graphic EP, and later in demo version on his Best Imitation of Myself: A Retrospective (and I believe on a movie soundtrack originally), is a beautiful, sad portrait of a relationship — it could easily stand alongside the best of his album work.

Song of the Day #1,885: ‘Amity’ – Elliott Smith

Song of the Day #1,877: ‘It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue [Take 1]’ – Bob Dylan

no_direction_homeBob Dylan must have felt his ears burning.

Guess he decided to chime in.
