Song of the Day #5,283: ‘Karma’ – Taylor Swift

Midnights – Taylor Swift

Now, I would say it’s likely that many reading right now who know me are shocked by this low placement of one of my favorite artists. It is true. I am a diehard Swifty. She could drop an absolute turd of an album and I would still revere it as a gold. This album is far from trash and much closer to treasure, but 2022 was a trove.

Song of the Day #5,282: ‘Part of the Band’ – The 1975

Being Funny in a Foreign Language – The 1975

Cash never recorded ‘Complicated Shadows’ but he did record this one, on a 1990 album titled Boom Chicka Boom. That album — his 76th! — also included a cover of Harry Chapin’s ‘Cat’s in the Cradle.’

Song of the Day #5,279: ‘If I Ever Lose My Faith in You’ – Sting

Thank you, Random iTunes Fairy, for a trip back in time to early 1993, when Sting dropped his fourth solo album, Ten Summoner’s Tales. For my money, this record remains the greatest thing he ever did as a solo artist.

Buoyed by two hit singles, ‘Fields of Gold’ and ‘If I Ever Lose My Faith in You’ (today’s SOTD), the album reached #2 on both the British and U.S. charts and achieved multi-platinum status in multiple countries.
