Song of the Day #5,278: ‘Tourist’ – Miranda Lambert

My Favorite 2022 Albums
#1 – Palomino – Miranda Lambert

A day after my 50th birthday, I’m not about to change my entire personality and not name a new album by my favorite artist as my favorite album of the year.

I’ve sung Miranda Lambert’s praises many times on this blog, and she keeps giving me new reasons to sing. The latest is Palomino, her ninth solo album and yet another stellar country collection.

Song of the Day #5,277: ‘Henry Miller’s Flat’ – Josh Rouse

My Favorite 2022 Albums
#2 – Going Places – Josh Rouse

My Favorite 2022 Albums
#3 – Harry’s House – Harry Styles

Song of the Day #5,275: ‘Sweet Nothing’ – Taylor Swift

My Favorite 2022 Albums
#4 – Midnights – Taylor Swift

I just spent a week ranking every song on this album, so I won’t go into a lot of detail here. Suffice it to say that Swift is both a great artist and a great superstar, with a keen sense of how she’s evolving in both of those roles, and Midnights is perhaps the best synthesis yet.

Song of the Day #5,274: ‘Joshua Tree’ – Carly Rae Jepsen

As I mentioned last week, this has been a very lean year for me in terms of new album releases. I know plenty of good new music was dropped, but most of it missed be my a mile.

I hope to remedy that by catching up with some of the more intriguing titles as 2022 turns into 2023. I’m particularly interested in getting to know new albums by The 1975 and Clean Cut Kid, two releases recommended by occasional commenter Daniel.
