Our next 2019 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee is Stevie Nicks, who has been eligible as a solo performer since 2006. This was her first nomination. Nicks is already in the Hall of Fame as a member of Fleetwood Mac, who were inducted in 1998. Nicks is the first woman inducted into the Hall of Fame twice, a feat accomplished by 22 men.
As a solo artist, Nicks has released eight studio albums, four of which went platinum and two gold. Her most successful, commercially and critically, was her 1981 solo debut, Bella Donna.
Bella Donna reached #1 on Billboard’s album charts, sold four million copies, and featured the his ‘Edge of Seventeen,’ ‘Leather and Lace,’ ‘Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around’ and ‘After the Glitter Fades.’ It’s a great album, less iconic than Fleetwood Mac or Rumours, but clearly a product of the same fierce talent behind some of those albums’ best songs.
As first I questioned whether Nicks’ solo output was sufficient to grant her entry in the Rock Hall, but I’ve come around on the topic. For one thing, it’s crazy that no woman has managed the two-time feat before now. Tina Turner (in alongside Ike) and Diana Ross (in with The Supremes) are the most noteworthy omissions on that front.
Also, Nicks has had a stronger solo run than I expected in terms of sales. And most of all, her status as a musical and cultural icon has lasted for decades and transcended her work with Fleetwood Mac. When my daughter is stanning Stevie Nicks because of her presence on American Horror Story in 2014, you know she’s bigger than any band.

I don’t have a problem with her solo inclusion in the Rock Hall for the same reasons you have stated – most particularly because she is a legend. In terms of order of admission, though, I think both Turner, Ross and CAROL KING should have been in before Nicks.
