As part of my Decades project, I counted down my own favorite albums of the year then explored other notable releases with which I was less familiar.

The year 1993 is a good example of how tastes shift over time. I compiled this list in 2020, and just 5+ years later, I would already move both Liz Phair’s and Jackson Browne’s albums higher on this list.
