As part of my Decades project, I counted down my own favorite albums of the year then explored other notable releases with which I was less familiar.

The year 1982 gave us the best-selling album of all-time in Michael Jackson’s Thriller. But not even that classic could keep Elvis Costello from a threepeat atop my personal list.
