I’ve been sprucing up this site over the past couple of months, mostly in the background: cleaning up expired YouTube embeds, cross-linking posts, building landing pages for my various collections.

This week I’m calling attention to some of those new features, in the hopes that both established and new readers will find it easier to navigate the site.

First up is my Artists page, where I’ll be linking to the bands and soloists about whom I’ve written the most. Whether it’s a full-catalog deep dive like those of Linda Ronstadt or Bob Marley, or a wide-ranging selection of posts I’ve written over the years (on The Smiths, say, or Lucinda Williams), you’ll find the artists listed alphabetically right here.

The list of names will be growing as I build out more artist-specific landing pages.

One artist on that list is Daniel Gallup, whose landing page is unique in that it also includes his own contributions as a guest writer for this site.

Today’s Song of the Day is Gallup’s latest single, ‘Awake,’ with a video shot and edited by another name frequent readers will recognize: my daughter, Fiona. ‘Awake’ might just be my favorite song by Daniel to date, and I’m super impressed by the talent on both sides of the camera in this video.
