Taylor Swift sits at #11 on the Billboard Hot 100 with ‘The Fate of Ophelia.’ The song spent 10 weeks at #1, making it the Swift single with the longest stint in the top spot.
At #12 is the second single from Bruno Mars’ album The Romantic, and the record’s first track. ‘Risk it All’ entered the chart at #4 before dropping out of the top ten a week later. It hasn’t had the staying power of ‘I Just Might,’ which has spent more than three months in the top five.
This is a charming bolero tune that kicks off with a flurry of trumpets and strummed acoustic guitar. After the softly crooned opening verse, I expected the track to kickstart into one of Mars’ signature soulful dance tracks.
Instead, it stays in the same earnest groove, with brushed drums providing the only beat, and I think the song is better for it. It’s a lovingly earnest homage to a classic song style, and one Mars delivers beautifully.
For just the chance to win your heart
You could set the bar beyond the stars
I’ll do anything, anything you ask me to
[Pre-Chorus]
Say you want the moon
Watch me learn to fly
Ain’t no mountain you could point to
I wouldn’t climb
[Chorus]
It’s crazy, but it’s true
There’s nothing I won’t do
I’d risk it all for you
[Verse 2]
To hold your hand and call you mine
I’m tryna be your man ’til the end of time
Oh, I’ll do anything, anything you ask me to
[Pre-Chorus]
I would run through a fire
Just to be by your side
If your heart’s on the line
You could take mine
[Chorus]
It’s crazy, but it’s true
There’s nothing I won’t do
I’d risk it all for you
[Bridge]
I would swim across the sea just to show you
Sacrifice my life just to hold you
I could go on and on
To prove that you belong here in my arms
[Pre-Chorus]
Say you want the moon
Watch me learn to fly
Ain’t no mountain you could point to
I wouldn’t climb
[Chorus]
It’s crazy, but it’s true
There’s nothing I won’t do
I’d risk it all for you
It’s crazy, but it’s true
There’s nothing I won’t do
I’d risk it all for you
