Eleven and a half years ago, I posted a video clip of two English sisters performing ‘I Am the Walrus.’
The younger was named Fiona and the older Emily, so they combined their names and posted YouTube performance videos under the moniker fiomily. The clip linked above was posted when they were 14 and 16 years old, though I’m certain it was filmed when they were several years younger (unless children mature much slower in England).
I’m not sure why, but I thought about them recently and wondered if they were still posting videos. If so, how different would they look as young adults nearly 12 years later?
Well, it turns out they did continue posting into their early 20s before stopping in 2017. So we can’t see Fiona and Emily at 26 and 28, but here they are at 23 and 25 performing a Fleetwood Mac tune.
Fiona looks completely different, while Emily has the same hairdo she was rocking as a tween.
Rock on, gold dust woman
Take your silver spoon, dig your grave
Heartless challenge
Pick your path and I’ll pray
Wake up in the morning
See your sunrise, loves to go down
Lousy lovers pick their prey
But they never cry out loud, cry out
[Chorus]
Well, did she make you cry
Make you break down
Shatter your illusions of love
And is it over now? Do you know how?
Pick up the pieces and go home
[Verse 2]
Rock on, ancient queen
Follow those who pale in your shadow
Rulers make bad lovers
You better put your kingdom up for sale
Up for sale
[Chorus]
Well, did she make you cry
Make you break down
Shatter your illusions of love
Well, is it over now? Do you know how?
Pick up the pieces and go home
[Chorus: Variation]
Well did she make you cry
Make you break down
Shatter your illusions of love
And now tell me, is it over now?
Do you know how to pick up the pieces
And go home? And go home, and go home
[Outro]
Ooh, pale shadow of a woman
Black widow
Pale shadow of a dragon
Dust woman
Ooh, pale shadow of a woman
Ooh, black widow
Ooh, pale shadow, she’s a dragon
Gold dust woman
Woman, woman
Fiona now looks as old or older than Emily. Hair can really make a difference. Sorry to hear they stopped making these videos. I hope one or both is still pursuing music in some way.
They certainly didn’t change very much. Nice voices.
You should probably fix that stopped, “in 1917”, but I enjoyed your writing and the video.
