I was surprised to see that this is only the fourth Coldplay song to make the blog in six years of Song of the Day posts.
It’s not that I’m a huge Coldplay fan, but they have a big enough profile (and enough good songs) to make the cut more than four times out of 2,209. And two of the four have come on Random Weekends, at that.
Today’s track is a highlight from the band’s 2002 album A Rush of Blood to the Head, still their best record. This sophomore effort was their critical and commercial breakthrough and represents their peak in terms of album sales (though subsequent albums have performed quite well).
Where do we go, nobody knows
I’ve got to say I’m on my way down
God give me style and give me grace
God put a smile upon my face
Where do we go to draw the line
I’ve got to say I wasted all your time
Oh honey honey
Where do I go to fall from grace
God put a smile upon your face yeah
[Hook]
And ah, when you work it out I’m worse than you
Yeah, when you work it out I wanted to
And ah, when you work out where to draw the line
Your guess is as good as mine
[Verse 2]
Where do we go, nobody knows
Don’t ever say you’re on your way down when
God gave you style and gave you grace
And put a smile upon your face oh yeah
[Hook]
[Bridge]
It’s as good as mine, It’s as good as mine
It’s as good as mine
As good as mine, as good as mine
As good as mine, as good as mine
[Outro]
Where do we go, nobody knows
Don’t ever say you’re on your way down when
God gave you style and gave you grace
And put a smile upon your face
That’s a very cool video.
Yes, that is a cool video; I looked up the actor because he looked so familiar and his name is Paddy Considine. I’ve seen him in several movies (Hot Fuzz, Buzz, Cinderella Man) are some đŸ™‚
He was also in a favorite of mine, In America.
This video’s a little too easy to understand for me…
Darn, you’ll have to explain it to me!
