As part of my Decades project, I counted down my own favorite albums of the year then explored other notable releases with which I was less familiar.

The year 1973 saw new releases from some of the decades heaviest hitters — including two from The Boss — and a prog rock masterpiece that went on to be one of the top-selling albums of all time.
