My family’s road trip to the North Carolina mountains gave us plenty of time for music. We had 22 hours of drive-time for the round trip, plus another 12 or so driving along the Blue Ridge Parkway and through Asheville and its surrounding areas.
To prepare us for these many hours in the car, each family member contributed to a master playlist which we played on shuffle. The playlist totaled around 26 hours, so we had few repeats over the course of the week. It also provided the endless excitement of guessing whose song would play next each time the current song ended.
Following this week’s collection of videos by an assortment of pop divas, today’s clip feels like an appropriate way to wrap up.
Neon Trees, of ‘Everybody Talks’ fame, has released a short promo clip for their new album, Pop Psychology, in which Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Selena Gomez, Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus show up in cartoon form.
When I compile my end-of-year song list, I start with the music I’ve purchased over the past 12 months. Then I hit Google, seeking out year-end wrap-ups that might remind me of a song that I never got around to buying but nevertheless captured my attention.
Invariably those sites lead me to songs that were completely off my radar but might have had a good chance of making my list had I only known they existed.
