Song of the Day #2,398: ‘3AM’ – Meghan Trainor

meghan_trainor_titleMeghan Trainor’s ‘All About That Bass’ didn’t make my list of 2014’s best songs, to the dismay of some of my readers.

Recently I bought Trainor’s album, Title, after my younger daughter asked me to download several of her songs. I figured I might as well spend the extra few bucks to get the whole record.

And while ‘Bass’ still doesn’t tickle my fancy the way it does for some, I am sufficiently impressed by the rest of the album to say one of its tracks might have made my best-of cut had I bought it sooner.

Song of the Day #2,337: ‘Lips Are Movin’ – Meghan Trainor

meghan_trainor_lips_are_movinHolding the #8 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 is Meghan Trainor with ‘Lips are Movin.’ It was her call to leave off the ‘G.’

This gives Trainor two songs in the top eight, quite the accomplishment for a woman who was completely unknown at this time last year.

Now she’s one of the biggest pop stars in the world. Wonder if that will still be true a year from now.

Song of the Day #2,240: ‘All About That Bass’ – Meghan Trainor

meghan_trainor_all_about__bassThe top three songs on the Billboard chart right now are by women, and this is after unseating the likes of Iggy Azalea and Ariana Grande, who previously dominated the top positions.

I think it’s safe to say women rule the musical world.

Also interesting: Two of the top three songs in the land are celebrations of women with big asses. That must be a first.
