Song of the Day #2,151: ‘Not a Bad Thing’ – Justin Timberlake

timberlake_20_20At the ninth spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 is Justin Timberlake’s love song ‘Not a Bad Thing.’

I tend to think of Timberlake as an actor more than a musician. I’ve enjoyed his work in Saturday Night Live and Inside Llewyn Davis more than anything I’ve heard from his albums.

Still, there’s no doubt he’s a multi-talented performer.

Song of the Day #2,033: ‘Mirrors’ – Justin Timberlake

Clocking in at #11 is Justin Timberlake’s ‘Mirrors,’ the second single from his album The 20/20 Experience.

I like Timberlake more as an actor and a Saturday Night Live performer than a musical act. I’m just not all that into his brand of smooth R&B.

Song of the Day #612: ‘Hallelujah (Live)’ – Justin Timberlake and Matt Morris

The most unexpectedly great performance at the Hope For Haiti Now telethon came courtesy of Justin Timberlake. It’s not that I don’t expect a good performance by Timberlake — on the contrary, he’s very talented — but I’ve never seen him like this.

Here’s a guy whose biggest musical splash came on SNL with ‘Dick in a Box’ and ‘Motherlover.’ And when he’s not cracking jokes, his most enduring compositions are dance pop hits like ‘Cry Me a River’ and ‘SexyBack.’ All entertaining and well-crafted songs, but they ain’t ‘Hallelujah.’
