Today’s SOTD was a bonus track on CeeLo Green’s 2010 album The Lady Killer. It’s a remix of hit single ‘Fuck You’ by Atlanta DJ Dylan Eiland, founder of EDM project Le Castle Vania.
I’ve never understood or cared about remixes, especially ones that don’t do anything radical with the original song. ‘Fuck You’ is perfectly crafted in its original form, making this sort of tinkering completely unnecessary.
It’s extremely rare that Random Weekends turn up a song that I have never heard before. Such is the case with today’s track, a bonus cut from Cee Lo Green’s 2010 album The Lady Killer.
I got this album for free through some sort of mail-in offer, so I was never all that inspired to listen to it.
One of the neat aspects of The Voice was seeing the coaches and contestants perform together. During the first few weeks of the series they performed as teams but once they were down to the final four, we were treated to duets by each coach and his or her one remaining singer.
Dia Frampton and Blake Shelton delivered a charming but mostly forgettable rendition of Tom Petty’s ‘I Won’t Back Down.’ Adam Levine and Javier Colon traded falsettos while singing Michael Jackson’s ‘Man in the Mirror,’ a song they both love but I hate. And Christina Aguilera and Beverly McLellan performed a lovely acoustic version of Aguilera’s moving ‘Beautiful’ with Linda Perry, the song’s writer, accompanying on guitar.
