Song of the Day #3,726: ‘Daddy I’m Fine’ – Sinead O’Connor

When today’s song popped up as my next random selection, I was shocked to discover I hadn’t written about it already. It’s one of my favorite tracks on a really great album by an artist I’ve featured fairly often.

‘Daddy I’m Fine’ appears on Sinead O’Connor’s 2000 album Faith and Courage, her fifth and quite possibly her best. It’s a quick and clever piece of autobiography with half-spoken choruses building to a thrashing chorus.

Song of the Day #3,725: ‘I’ll Get You’ – The Beatles

‘I’ll Get You’ is an early Beatles track released in 1963 as the B-side of ‘She Loves You’ but not appearing on any of their official album releases.

Song of the Day #3,724: ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’ – Kina Grannis

My family went to see Crazy Rich Asians for a second time, and I was just as smitten if not more so. This truly is the finest romantic comedy I’ve seen in a long, long time.

Last week I wrote about the film’s use of a Mandarin version of the Coldplay song ‘Yellow’ in a pivotal sequence. The performer is Katharine Ho, an early loser on The Voice who had left the music business before being tapped for this breakthrough movie’s soundtrack.

Song of the Day #3,723: ‘Electricity’ – Silk City and Dua Lipa

Since I last wrote about Dua Lipa in April, I feel like she’s been everywhere. That’s probably because I follow her on Instagram and the Albanian pop star is very active on that platform.

Lipa has been riding high on the success of her self-titled debut album, which has sent five singles up the charts (particularly in England, her birthplace), and maintaining an exhausting tour schedule. She also must be working out a whole lot, based on the amazing shape she’s in in the aforementioned Instagram photos.

Song of the Day #3,722: ‘Titanic Medley’ – Ariana Grande & James Corden

Is it possible to not like James Corden? In addition to his immense talent as a comic and a singer, he seems like the most genuinely nice human being on earth.

He’s so likable that, in his ‘Carpool Karaoke’ segments and other skits, he has the ability to make anybody next to him — even Justin Bieber — instantly likable too.
