Ariana Grande’s 2024 album Eternal Sunshine was her best in nearly a decade, producing two #1 hits and finding her in a delicious smooth pop groove.
Then came her celebrated appearances in two Wicked movies (one of which earned an Oscar nomination) and much concern about her emaciated physical appearance (warranted, in my opinion).
Now she’s back with new music, and first single ‘Hate That I Made You Love Me’ seems to tackle her relationship with fans and the media over the last two years.
The song finds Grande singing in a lower register over a somber synth-pop backdrop. It’s a great vibe that I hope well represents the sound of her upcoming album, Petal.
The track debuted at #1 on the Hot 100, becoming Grande’s 10th chart-topper and her eighth #1 debut. The latter achievement ties her with Taylor Swift, and puts her two away from Drake’s record of 10 chart-topping debuts.
I just hope her extraordinary success and talent aren’t derailed by an eating disorder. I know it’s not anybody’s place to speculate about a celebrity’s health, but the latest photos have really freaked me out.

Thank you for calling out Grande’s appearance. Weight, particularly with women, has become such a taboo subject that I have been castigated, mostly by my wife, the few times I have mentioned Ariana’s emaciated appearance. I too hope she seeks treatment if, as it appears, she suffers from an eating disorder.
I bet you’re right about Dad 😊 I am not too familiar with Ariana other than a maintenance man at our condo named his daughter after her 🤷♀️ I know she was in the Wicked movies of course and I recall she has an amazing voice. Sorry if she does have an eating disorder or maybe she is unable to gain weight 🤷♀️
