In the #5 slot on this week’s Billboard Hot 100 is the Encanto smash ‘We Don’t Talk About Bruno,’ which enjoyed five weeks in the top spot before being unseated by Glass Animals’ ‘Heat Waves.’
The success of the Encanto soundtrack, and this song in particular, is one of the great Billboard chart stories of recent years.
Coming in at #6 is the latest Justin Bieber jam, ‘Ghost,’ a syrupy mid-tempo pop song about the loss of a loved one.
This song is exactly as inoffensive and unmemorable as every other Bieber song that finds its way onto this chart.
Youngblood thinks there’s always tomorrow
I miss your touch some nights when I’m hollow
I know you crossed a bridge that I can’t follow
Since the love that you left is all that I get, I want you to know
[Chorus]
That if I can’t be close to you, I’ll settle for the ghost of you
I miss you more than life (More than life)
And if you can’t be next to me, your memory is ecstasy
I miss you more than life, I miss you more than life
[Verse 2]
Youngblood thinks there’s always tomorrow
I need more time, but time can’t be borrowed
I’d leave it all behind if I could follow
Since the love that you left is all that I get, I want you to know
[Chorus]
That if I can’t be close to you, I’ll settle for the ghost of you
I miss you more than life (Yeah)
And if you can’t be next to me, your memory is ecstasy (Oh)
I miss you more than life, I miss you more than life
[Bridge]
Woah-oh-oh-oh
Na-na-na
More than life
[Chorus]
So if I can’t get close to you, I’ll settle for the ghost of you
I miss you more than life
And if you can’t be next to me, your memory is ecstasy
I miss you more than life, I miss you more than life
It wasn’t all that long ago, perhaps his last album, that Bieber was releasing far more creative, interesting and memorable music than this.
Meanwhile, is this a “dumped” or “dead” song?
