Song of the Day #4,723: ‘Until the Sun Comes Out’ – Isla

I’m happy to see that new music is forthcoming from Josh Rouse, whose last album (Love in the Modern Age) came out in 2018. Rouse returns this summer with a side project called Isla, and a 9-track album titled The Mediterranean Gardener.

Isla is a solo effort, but different enough in sound and approach for Rouse to record it under a new name. He describes it as “improvised electronica” that he whipped together during his pandemic quarantine.

The 80s synth vibe of first single ‘Until the Sun Comes Out’ could have fit comfortably on Love is the Modern Age. I wonder if the rest of the album is in the same vein, or more out there.

Either way, I’m always on board for more Josh Rouse, under his own name or any other.

I’m not sure if Rouse has an agent, but, if I were his agent, I would suggest that he not weaken his already little known brand by releasing music under another name.

I’m not familiar with this artist other then reading about him on this blog, but I like this music. Found it easy to listen to this morning 😊
