It seems like Justin Bieber has been a thing forever now, but 2019 marks only the 9-year anniversary of his debut album, My World 2.0 (he had released an EP titled My World a year earlier).
In fact, my Song of the Day blog is older than Justin Bieber’s recording career, which probably says more about how long I’ve been doing this than it does about the Biebs.
My first Justin Bieber post was Song of the Day #779, posted on September 10, 2010. It featured the hit song ‘Baby’ and a disturbing amount of venom directed by me at both young Bieber and the sport of soccer. Was I really that angry and disagreeable at the start of the decade?
I rather enjoy soccer these days, now that my daughter is in a youth league, and I’m indifferent to Justin Bieber (I even like some of his newer material).
It’s unpleasant to see such negativity from my younger self, but I’m glad I’ve mellowed.
You see, my baby up and hit the road
Where she’s going, I swear, nobody knows
I need to find her ‘fore another man does
I wouldn’t want him to steal my love
[Pre-Chorus]
I’m just tryna be cool, cool, cool
What you expect me to do?
I’m just trying to find, find, find
The sweet love of mine
[Chorus]
I’m running out of time, where is my runaway love?
Searching low and high, know that I’m not giving up
I gave it all up for us, but it’ll never be enough
I won’t stop until I find my runaway love
[Verse 2]
See, my baby really needs some help
Cause she can never stay at home by herself
She says she needs a little company
Even if she’s not always with me, yeah
[Pre-Chorus]
I’m just tryna be cool, cool, cool
What you expect me to do?
I’m just trying to find, find, find
The sweet love of mine
[Chorus]
I’m running out of time, where is my runaway love?
Searching low and high, know that I’m not giving up
I gave it all up for us, but it’ll never be enough
I won’t stop until I find my runaway love
[Bridge]
Why can’t I find you love of mine
When you’re standing in front of my face?
Oh I, I must be blind
How did I let you get away?
Yeah, yeah
[Chorus]
I’m running out of time, where is my runaway love?
Searching low and high, know that I’m not giving up
I gave it all up for us, but it’ll never be enough
I won’t stop until I find my runaway love
I’m running out of time, where is my runaway love?
Searching low and high, know that I’m not giving up
I gave it all up for us, but it’ll never be enough
I won’t stop until I find my runaway love
So you and Amy were full of vitriol and somehow I was the calmer voice, not about soccer, which I still don’t like ot get, but about the Biebs.😊
We all tend to mellow as we get older 😊
I’d never heard this Justin Bieber and I probably don’t need to hear it again. However, I will stand up for young Bieber anyway! Though some of his earlier output like “Baby” hold no real interest to me, I will to this day blast “U Smile” that song is perfect. “One Less Lonely Girl” also makes the car jams rotation sometimes. His phrasing, delivery, and overall style were already infectious at that early age. In this song you can hear Usher’s influence on him and I think it’s very cool the way he’s grown and evolved as an artist taking aspects of different kinds of music and artists he loves to create a wider range of bops.
