Song of the Day #3,019: ‘Raise Your Hands’ – Rose Hill Drive

rose_hill_driveOnce in a great while, the Random iTunes Fairy serves up a Random Weekend selection that’s a complete mystery to me.

Such is the case with today’s SOTD, ‘Raise Your Hands’ by Rose Hill Drive. It’s not only news to me that this song is in my music collection; it’s news to me that this band exists.

‘Raise Your Hands’ is the only song by RHD (that’s how we diehard fans refer to them) I own, which suggests it might be from a soundtrack. But I could find no reference of this song appearing on any soundtracks.

The band formed in 2003 and hails from Boulder, Colorado. The song isn’t bad.

There goes another day
How many people are livin’ in the pain?
I wonder how many souls
Are just like mine
A soul full of holes

Raise your hands
Don’t be afraid
I know that you can
Raise your hands
Here goes another night
How many people dream they are flying?
I wonder how many souls are just like mine
With a plan for escaping

How many souls hang do not disturb?
How many mouths say love’s just a word?
And how many think
There’s something that’s just not
Right with the world?

Raise your hands
Don’t be afraid
You can do what you can
Raise your hands

Too funny! Only in the digital age could you own a song and not be able to tell what the source is (soundtrack, etc). Maybe Apple planted this during an update.😄
