Song of the Day #2,895: ‘Don’t Let Me Down’ – The Chainsmokers

chainsmokers_dont_let_me_downNew York City DJ duo The Chainsmokers return to the Top Ten with ‘Don’t Let Me Down,’ their biggest hit to date, which sits at #5.

The Chainsmokers are responsible for the annoying ‘#Selfie’ but also the somewhat enjoyable ‘Roses.’ With ‘Don’t Let Me Down’ they have not only their most successful track but the first I truly like.

The singer on this track is Daya, a Pittsburgh-born pop artist previously best known for the single ‘Hide Away.’ Another good song.

[Verse 1]
Crashing, hit a wall
Right now I need a miracle
Hurry up now, I need a miracle
Stranded, reaching out
I call your name but you’re not around
I say your name but you’re not around

[Chorus]
I need you, I need you, I need you right now
Yeah, I need you right now
So don’t let me, don’t let me, don’t let me down
I think I’m losing my mind now
It’s in my head, darling I hope
That you’ll be here, when I need you the most
So don’t let me, don’t let me, don’t let me down
D-Don’t let me down

[Post-Chorus: Instrumental]
Don’t let me down
Don’t let me down, down, down
Don’t let me down, don’t let me down, down, down

[Verse 2]
R-r-running out of time
I really thought you were on my side
But now there’s nobody by my side

[Chorus]
I need you, I need you, I need you right now
Yeah, I need you right now
So don’t let me, don’t let me, don’t let me down
I think I’m losing my mind now
It’s in my head, darling I hope
That you’ll be here, when I need you the most
So don’t let me, don’t let me, don’t let me down
D-Don’t let me down

[Post-Chorus: Instrumental]
Don’t let me down
Don’t let me down, down, down
Don’t let me down, down, down
Don’t let me down, down, down
Don’t let me down, don’t let me down, down, down

[Bridge]
Oh, I think I’m losing my mind now, yeah, yeah, yeah
Oh, I think I’m losing my mind now, yeah, yeah

[Chorus]
I need you, I need you, I need you right now
Yeah, I need you right now
So don’t let me, don’t let me, don’t let me down
I think I’m losing my mind now
It’s in my head, darling I hope
That you’ll be here, when I need you the most
So don’t let me, don’t let me, don’t let me down
Don’t let me down

[Outro]
Yeah, don’t let me down
Yeah, don’t let me down
Don’t let me down, oh no
Said don’t let me down
Don’t let me down
Don’t let me down
Don’t let me down, down, down

Of course you like it. It’s Sia/Rihanna.

I despise this song, it makes me wish I was deaf; its honestly one of the worst ear worms to come along since Psy. The vocals resemble a whiney banshee and they are nauseatingly repetitive. Her pleas to come hither right now because she’s going crazy make me want to cover my ears and bolt in the other direction. Also, I can’t stand the Dub Step interludes. Dub Step sounds like flatulent demons, a dial up modem, and Air-Aid siren amongst other unpleasant noises.
The fact that this song is severely overplayed virtually everywhere from the club to a grocery store and even the gym adds to the annoyance.
