Song of the Day #2,511: ‘Talking Body’ – Tove Lo

tove_loAt #12 on Billboard’s Hot 100 is Tove Lo’s ‘Talking Body.’

My wife recently leads a new car and got the requisite three free months of Sirius/XM service. On family trips, we cycle through a series of stations, with my wife and I favoring the ’80s on 8′ and our daughters pushing for ‘Hits 1.’

Lately, the song that turns up on ‘Hits 1’ more than any other is Tove Lo’s ‘Talking Body.’ And for some reason we always turn it off immediately while shaking our heads that it comes up so often.

So when it fell in today’s SOTD slot, I instinctively sighed and thought “I have to hear this song yet again!”

But after playing it, I realized I haven’t really heard it all the way through yet. I actually kind of like it. I don’t know how it got on our shit list — purely through its ubiquity, I guess.

[Verse 1]
Bed, stay in bed
The feeling of your skin locked in my head
Smoke, smoke me broke
I don’t care I’m down for what you want

[Pre-Chorus]
Day drunk into the night, wanna keep you here
Cause you dry my tears, yeah
Summer lovin’ and fights, how it is for us
And it’s all because

[Chorus](2x)
Now if we’re talking body
You got a perfect one so put it on me
Swear it won’t take you long
If you love me right, we fuck for life
On and on and on

[Verse 2]
Love, give me love
Anything you want I’ll give it up
Lips, lips I kiss
Bite me while I taste your fingertips

[Pre-Chorus]

[Chorus]

[Bridge]
Bodies!
Our baby making bodies we just use for fun
Bodies!
Let’s use ’em up ’til every little piece is gone
(Let’s go)
On and on and on (Let’s go)
On and on (Let’s go)

[Chorus]

[Outro+Chorus]
Now if we’re talking body
Put it on me
If you love me right, we fuck for life
On and on and on
Now if we’re talking body
You got a perfect one so put it on me
Swear it won’t take you long
If you love me right, we fuck for life
On and on and on

  1. Dana says:

Though I assume they bleep out the f word on the radio version, given the sexual lyrics, thus is probably not a bad song to skip over with the kids in the car.

Funny, I have the same reaction. Don’t think I’ve ever heard more than 20 seconds or so of it before changing the station.
