Song of the Day #2,149: ‘Turn Down For What’ – DJ Snake & Lil Jon

turn_down_snake_jonAs I suspected, Ariana Grande’s ‘Problem’ is sitting high on the charts, at #2. In the third and fourth spots are two other songs I’ve already featured on the blog, John Legend’s ‘All Of Me’ and Pharell’s juggernaut ‘Happy.’

The next new entry is an oddity by DJ Snake & Lil Jon called ‘Turn Down For What.’ The track contains twelve words repeated ad nauseum over an assaulting EDM beat — just like the songs my parents grew up with.

Song of the Day #2,148: ‘Fancy’ – Iggy Azalea

The time has come, once again, to scan the Billboard charts and post the songs currently sitting on top.

It’s been two months since I last mined the charts for Song of the Day fodder, so I figured I’d have a whole new batch of hits to hear.

Not the case. Four of the current top ten hits were in the top ten the last time I did this. Popular songs tend to stay popular.

Song of the Day #2,147: ‘Conversation Off Floral Street’ – The Zombies

zombies_odesseyI hate when instrumentals turn up on Random iTunes Weekends because I rarely have anything interesting to say about them. (That’s assuming I have interesting things to say about songs with lyrics, I realize, which probably isn’t always the case).

So I won’t attempt to analyze today’s SOTD, a bonus track from the re-release of The Zombies’ Odessey and Oracle. I’ll just present it without comment for your enjoyment.

Song of the Day #2,145: ‘Problem’ – Ariana Grande

I suspect I might be jumping the gun by posting Ariana Grande’s ‘Problem’ today. I don’t know where it sits on that chart (and I won’t cheat and look now) but based on the growing buzz, I’m guessing it’s pretty high.
