Yesterday’s viral video ‘Chinese Food’ struck me as a less racist, PG version of Day Above Ground’s ‘Asian Girlz,’ a clip that took the web by storm months ago.
I never really understood the outrage wrought by this absurd music video. It is so clearly over the top that it can’t possibly be taken as anything but bawdy humor.
Is it funny? Mostly not. But I have to admit, I laugh every time I hear “your mama’s so pretty, best nails in the city.”
Unrelated note on this video: Why the tattoos?? Such a beautiful woman defiled by such ugly body art. I’ll never understand the growing fascination with these things. Does that make me old?

I find this video more misogynistic than racist. And while humor, bawdy or otherwise, can often be used as an excuse to get away with illustrating what would otherwise be deemed patently offensive content, the less funny or satirical the work, the thinner the vail covering up the offensive material. So, here, this is just not funny or satirical enough to excuse what appears to be the real intent: a juvenile soft porn video featuring a lusty possibly under aged Asian girl. I get the offense here, more so from women than Asians, though both have an argument.
As for tattoos, I guess I’m old too, but I really don’t find the excessive body art attractive. And I keep thinking about what these people are going to look like at 60, 70 or 80 years old. Maybe by then they will find a more effective painless way to get rid of these tattoos.
Well, great body, tatooed or otherwise. Otherwise, this is pretty dreadful.
Yes, it is pretty dreadful; and I can’t understand the tattoos, but they are everywhere you look–young and old. So ugly.
