Song of the Day #3,473: ‘Froggie Went A Courtin” – Bruce Springsteen

Of all the songs in my music collection, the oldest may well be ‘Froggie Went A Courtin’,’ an English folk song dating back to the 16th century.

I own two versions of the song, one by Bob Dylan on his 1992 album of folk covers Good As I Been To You, and this one by Bruce Springsteen, which appeared on his 2006 album We Shall Overcome: The Pete Seeger Sessions.

Song of the Day #1,323: ‘Shenandoah’ – Bruce Springsteen

Today’s Random Weekend selection is making up for a past sin.

When I spent a three weeks last year walking through Bruce Springsteen’s discography an album at a time, I skipped one in order to fit the series into the allotted time frame. That album was We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions, Springsteen’s 2006 collection of classic folk songs.

Today, that record gets its due.
