Song of the Day #2,771: ‘Record Lady’ – Lyle Lovett

iloveeverybodyHere’s one of those fun cases where the birthday of a loved one falls on a Random Weekend.

It gives me a chance to play my favorite musical game, wherein I say “whatever song plays next will sum up the rest of your life” or “whatever song plays next describes our marriage” and so on.

So, whatever song plays next is dedicated to my lovely daughter Fiona, who turns 10 today.

Song of the Day #2,770: ‘Carry On’ – fun.

fun_some_nightsThe eagle-eyed among you might have noticed that my Song of the Day number jumped ahead by 10 after yesterday. That’s because, while perusing old blog entries, I stumbled upon a mistake in the numbering.

Song of the Day #2,757: ‘Coffee’ – Miguel

miguel_coffee‘Coffee’ from Miguel might sound like an order at a Cuban restaurant, but it’s actually the 16th best song of 2015, according to Village Voice’s Pazz & Jop poll.

I’ve featured one other Miguel song on the blog, back in 2013 when counting down the 2012 Pazz & Jop poll. Guess he’s a favorite. I didn’t like him then… let’s see if anything has changed three years later.
