Closing out an enjoyable two weeks of ‘What the Kids are Listening To’ is Tame Impala’s ‘Dracula,’ #15 on the Billboard Hot 100. This is the first single to ever reach the Hot 100 for the Australian indie rock band (which is really just one guy, a versatile musician named Kevin Parker).
At least some of the popularity of this song can be traced to a remix Parker made with KPop star Jennie, one of several Blackpink members who has had major solo success. ‘Dracula’ scores a TikTok trend that seems to consist of two people walking toward the camera while lip-syncing the track.

I haven’t heard this one and, not surprisingly, was unaware of the accompanying TikTok trend. Catchy enough song though.
It is a catchy tune
Have never actively put this song but much like most Tame Impala music, anytime I hear it passively it always strikes me as a good vibe!
It’s cool for an Alt Electronic/Indie song like this to get this kind of traction. Tame Impala is certainly one of the biggest names in those scenes. However, it’s definitely not a given that a new single he’d drop would make these kind of waves.
This edition of “What The Kids are Listening To” has made me feel somewhat optimistic about the current state of the Billboard! There’s some very fun funky songs, smartly written country, interesting genre shifting R&B, and not all the songs sound the same which is always nice.
