Song of the Day #4,916: ‘Bryte Side’ – Pernice Brothers

Today we have one of those strange coincidences that crop up every once in awhile when posting on Random Weekends.

Exactly eight days ago, I featured a random song from Pernice Brothers’ 2001 album The World Won’t End. And here we are again with a second track from the same batch of 11 songs, an unlikely result given the 13,117 other possible tracks that aren’t on that album.

‘Bryte Side’ is another lovely song, as is everything I’ve heard from this album. Maybe the Random iTunes Fairy is trying to tell me to give it a listen on my own.

Somebody said you’d got it together
As if I’d never been alive
Weak fireworks eclipsed in the trauma
Another year does suicide

Throat open to the cut of the winter
If only just to feel alive
The cascading days, they crash on each other
I wish you well this starry night

On the bryte side
On the bryte side
Left me blind…

I hope I never love anybody
The way you never really tried
Skin tanning in a hot flash summer
I never was so terrified
