Today’s Random Weekend selection, like so many of them, is a reminder that I haven’t listened to this artist in too long.
In this case it’s Bruce Springsteen, whose 2012 album Wrecking Ball continued a strong run of material that started in the late 2000s. As with its predecessors, Magic and Working On a Dream, I really enjoyed this album upon its release but stopped listening after awhile.
I guess that’s true of all new albums to an extent. They fall out of the rotation, replaced by some new discovery or old favorite. So much music, so little time.
You put out the dog, I’ll put out the cat
You put on your red dress for me tonight honey
We’re going on the town now
Looking for easy money
There’s nothing to it mister
You won’t hear a sound
When your whole world comes tumbling down
And all them fat cats, they’ll just think it’s funny
I’m going on the town now, looking for easy money
I got a Smith & Wesson 38
I got a hell fire burning and I got me a date
Got me a date on the far shore
Where it’s bright and sunny
I’m going on the town tonight, looking for easy money
You put on your coat, I’ll put on my hat
You put out the dog, I’ll put out the cat
You put on your red dress for me tonight honey
We’re going on the town now
Looking for easy money
We, particularly Amy, have been saying that there is too much music, too little time for decades, and that was really about just listening to new music from artists we know and like/love.
When you started this blog, I remember there was some concern that you would at some point run out of new songs to feature. However, far more than our family (or at least Amy and me), and aided by you daughters, you have greatly expanded your exposure to new artists and new music. But, at some point, even YOU have your limits.😜
We tend to listen to the past music we love but it’s certainly nice to hear the new stuff and your blog helps me do just that 😊
