Modern Nomad is one of the more obscure artists Sophia has brought to my attention. They have no Wikipedia page and precious few mentions in the press. Their YouTube videos have only a couple of thousand views, when even minor artists seem to have no problem breaking a million.
In fact, Googling “Modern Nomad” brings up a home goods store in Denver and a blog by a dude in London who hasn’t posted a new entry since 2015.
Modern Nomad is the brainchild of Baltimore-based musician Thomas Mclean, who writes and records the songs himself and gathers friends for live performances. He claims The Beach Boys and The Beatles as primary influences, despite being born nearly 40 years after those bands debuted.
Today’s song sounds a bit like Magical Mystery Tour filtered through Daft Punk.
The beauty in your soul is for sure
It’s hard to just stand still
The groove is all I’ve got
And it’s hot
Come with us you must
The world is just a bust for your head
So sit back and unwind
You’ve got to find the time for sunshine
You know it’s such a shame
The melodies the same, it’s okay
I like it just that way
And maybe we can say it all day
It’s hard to just stand still
The groove is all I’ve got
And it’s hot X2
All of these artists are obscure from my perspective, but I guess this one is more than most. Your description of the song is on point.
Really like this one. I can hear some Beach Boys influence
