Song of the Day #4,075: ‘Take It Back’ – She & Him

I went five years between She & Him songs on Random Weekends, posting the first back in 2014 and the second earlier this month. Now, just three weeks later, the duo shows up again.

Little surprises like this that go hand-in-hand with mathematical randomness are the most satisfying part of Random iTunes Weekends. I love the anomalies and clusters that inevitably pop up when you repeatedly spin the wheel.

Song of the Day #4,074: ‘Motivation’ – Normani

I’m calling it on August 30. Normani’s ‘Motivation’ is the best video of 2019. It’s one of the summer’s best songs, too.

Titled Wildcard, the new album will be Lambert’s seventh studio release. I’ve mentioned before that Lambert is one of the few artists about whom I can say that any one of her albums is her best. She is that consistently great.

Song of the Day #4,071: ‘Everybody Wants You’ – Red Hearse

When my Los Angeles-based niece, Madison, sends me a music recommendation, I’m smart enough to listen.

Last week she hit me up with a plug for Red Hearse, which immediately made me feel old because I had heard absolutely nothing about the band. The album has been out for only a little more than a week, though, so I can’t feel too bad.
