As you read this, my family is embarking on a two-week trip to Italy and the Greek Isles. In my customary fashion, I will slip the blog into vacation mode during the week, while Random Weekends will proceed unchanged.
This week I will present five Italian songs, and next week I will present five songs from the film Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, a modern classic set on a fictional Greek island.
First up is ‘Gloria,’ a 1979 hit by Italian singer Umberto Tozzi that went on to become an even bigger hit in the U.S. for Laura Branigan.
I never knew the origins of this song, so as I embark on my Italian holiday eager to learn more about the country and its people, I thought this would be a fitting kick-off.
I too had no idea the American version was a cover from an Italian song. Meanwhile, what exactly is going on in this high quality, high concept video?😀 I feel like those guys may have been the models upon which Mario Kart characters were based.🤣
Anyway, hope you all are having a great time in Italy.
Have a wonderful time ❤️
