Here’s one of those mystery Random Weekend selections from an album I’ve never heard and have no recollection of acquiring.
Abra Moore is a San Diego-born, Hawaii-raised pop singer who was a founding member of the band Poi Dog Pondering in the mid 80s. She left to pursue a solo career, releasing five studio albums between 1995 and 2007. No word on what she’s been up to for the last decade.
1997’s Strangest Places was her biggest hit, landing a couple of singles on the charts. One of those was today’s SOTD, ‘Don’t Feel Like Cryin,’ which sounds like a prototypical 90s pop song.
Looks like you’ve changed your ways again
But is that you now?
It’s funny how I can’t remember
Yeah, well I knew you better than that
At least I thought I knew you then
But what I know now
It’s not always a happy ending
Yeah, but hey… here comes that rainy day again
But hey… look at me, I don’t feel like cryin’, no
And hey… here comes that rainy day again
And hey look at me, I don’t feel like cryin’, no
And who said, love is a game?
And who said, love can be gambled
Gambled away, yeah
Is this me now?
Looks like I’ve changed my ways again
But is this me now?
It’s funny how you can’t remember
Yeah, you know me better than that
At least you thought you knew me then
But what you know now
It’s not always a happy ending
Yeah but hey… here comes that rainy day again
And hey look at me, I don’t feel like cryin’, no-woah
And hey… here comes that rainy day again
And hey look at me, I don’t feel like cryin’, no-woah
I don’t feel like cryin’, no
(And who said, love is a game?)
I don’t feel like it
And hey, look at me, I don’t feel like cryin’, no
Never heard of her or this song. Don’t think I’m the lesser for it either.
