Wrapping up a rather mediocre batch of ‘What the Kids are Listening To’ is this week’s Billboard #19, Hailee Steinfeld’s ‘Starving.’ Not a bad way to go out, I guess.
As I write this, I’m heading out shortly to watch Edge of Seventeen, which I fully expect to enjoy. I was in awe of Steinfeld in her first major performance, her Oscar-nominated turn in the Coen Brothers’ True Grit. She’s without question a fine actress.
I think the jury is still out on whether she’s nearly as effective a pop star, but I do admire her desire to build a career across both disciplines.

Meet Me In Montauk 
I hope you enjoyed Edge of Seventeen as much as we did. Hailee is definitely a talent, arguably more so as an actress, but I enjoy this song as well. It feels like she is channeling Selena Gomez here, which is a good thing.
I loved Edge of Seventeen, and Steinfeld was every bit as good in it as I hoped and expected.
