Song of the Day #2,925: ‘You Walked Through the Door’ – Josh Rouse

josh_rouse_embers_timeHere’s one of those very rare occasions where the Random iTunes Fairy serves up two songs by the same artist on the same weekend. I can’t remember the last time this happened.

The odds of a second Josh Rouse song popping up after the first one are about 1 in a 100, given the number of Rouse songs in my library (137) vs. the total number of songs (12,425). Not exactly like winning Lotto, but certainly a long shot.

Yesterday’s track was from one of Rouse’s earliest albums, while today’s is from his latest, 2015’s The Embers of Time. Another gem.

[Verse 1]
So I got a little lonely
Down on memory lane
I was headed down a one way
When I hit the brakes
But a half an hour later
In a small cafe
I was caught in a daydream
Dreaming of your face

[Pre-Chorus]
A dumb drunk kid, never knew what love was for
And I try to think back, to where I was before

[Chorus]
You walked through the door
You walked through the door

[Verse 2]
Now I’m always hurried
And you’re always late
Become accustomed to a lifestyle
One without a pace
Got a villain of a story
Down on memory lane
Gonna fill it up with sex scenes
And a long car chase

[Instrumental]

[Pre-Chorus]

[Pre-Chorus]
Keep it up kid, never knew what love was for
And I try to think back, to where I was before
Before

[Chorus]

  1. Dana says:

I’m sure the odds of a double header on Costello or Dylan are far greater.
