In Billboard’s #2 spot this week is ‘Panda’ by Desiigner, another case where at first I wasn’t sure which was the song title and which was the artist’s name.
According to Wikipedia, Desiigner is the moniker of Sidney Royel Selby III, who first started rapping under the name Designer Royel before his sister “convinced him to drop the middle name and add the extra I.” That must have been an interesting conversation.
I don’t have patience for a lot of rap music these days (and I know how old that makes me sound). This one isn’t too bad in its own hypnotic way. But wow, does this guy mumble! If I didn’t have the lyrics in front of me I don’t know if I’d understand a fraction of it.
As one YouTube commenter wrote, “Good song, can’t wait for the English version.” And another, “I like that part, when he is saying sjbwvsjdhdjsgsjhsoqkwcdpwbidvsks shjwvsvsgsvsvsb shshhshs.”
