Some albums I decide to cover song by song, and others have it happen by accident. I didn’t set out to do a track-by-track presentation of Paul Simon’s classic Graceland, but its songs came up again and again over the years until I covered them all.

That’s because every song on Graceland is a masterpiece, and the album as a whole is one of the greatest ever made. Simon’s exploration of the music of South Africa led to his most successful album commercially and one of three Album of the Year Grammy winners in his catalog. And it continues to influence musicians to this day.
