Beyonce’s ‘Cowboy Carter’ – My Track-by-Track Ranking

Cowboy Carter, the second album in a planned trilogy by Beyoncé, found the icon tackling country music in her own inimitable style.

The album turned out to be much more than a genre exercise — instead, it was an exploration of the very concept of genres, and a mash-up only Beyoncé could concoct.

Cowboy Carter earned Beyoncé her first, long overdue, Album of the Year Grammy, and capped off one of the great four-album runs. I decided to tackle the modern classic by ranking its songs in order of my preference and writing a bit about each one.
