Song of the Day #4,705: ‘Next Girl’ – The Black Keys

I’m always annoyed when a Black Keys song comes up on Random iTunes Weekends, because I don’t particularly care for the band and I never having anything interesting to say about their music.

Today’s song is no exception, but it does have a noteworthy video. It depicts a bunch of bikini-clad women fighting over a dinosaur puppet lip-syncing the song. A disclaimer runs along the bottom of the screen claiming that the band hated the video but the record label released it anyway.

Song of the Day #4,704: ‘Levitating (Remix)’ – Dua Lipa feat. DaBaby

Dua Lipa sits at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 with a remix of ‘Levitating’ featuring DaBaby. This is another case of an artist tweaking a song to squeeze out some additional time on the charts.

The original version of ‘Levitating,’ however, didn’t make it to the U.S. chart, though it did land on charts in several other countries. It took the DaBaby remix to get this one on the Hot 100, where it has spent 30 weeks, peaking right here at #5.

Song of the Day #4,701: ‘Leave the Door Open’ – Silk Sonic

At the #2 spot on this week’s Billboard Hot 100 is ‘Leave the Door Open,’ a smooth R&B jam by Silk Sonic.

If you’re like me, this is the first you’ve heard of Silk Sonic, which you’ll quickly realize is a super-duo formed by Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak. Paak opened for Mars a few years ago and the two began a collaboration that culminated in the surprise drop of this song and a promise of a future album.
