It looks like the Random iTunes Fairy wanted to get in on the April Fools’ Day fun because here she is serving up a song by another “Weekend” alumnus, Mr. Brad Paisley. Paisley Weekends followed Sexsmih Weekends back in 2011.
After suffering through the groans of my regular readers over those two choices, I followed them up with Simon Weekends, which chronicled the work of Paul Simon both as a solo artist and with Simon & Garfunkel. That went over considerably better.
I haven’t listened to Paisley a whole lot in recent years. His last studio release came out way back in 2017, making this by far the longest stretch between albums in his career. He released a single in 2019 but hasn’t said anything about a new record on the horizon.
Today’s song will serve as a nice little upbeat and funny palate cleanser before digging back into another week of soul-searching melancholy from Lana Del Rey.
