This is turning into one of my favorite weeks in the Song of the Day series. There are just so many talented and interesting people out there, all waiting to be discovered on the wonder that is YouTube.

Today’s performer, Julia Nunes, is definitely the quirkiest I’ve encountered so far. In addition to her great voice and ukulele work, she is an expert sound mixer. Most of her videos consist of her on multiple instruments as well as harmony vocals and beat-box style percussion.

I figured Nunes was some talented, goofy schoolkid killing time with a Web cam, but it turns out she’s achieved some degree of fame already. She has one of the largest YouTube followings and two CDs available for sale on her Web site.

Most impressive, she has opened for Ben Folds four times at his invitation after he was knocked out by her YouTube clips. Now that’s cool.
