Song of the Day #1,186: ‘Moves Like Jagger’ – Maroon 5

Even now that I’m making an effort to keep up to at least some degree with what the kids are listening to these days, I miss things.

I saw the first ever performance of today’s SOTD, Maroon 5’s ‘Moves Like Jagger,’ when front man Adam Levine performed it on The Voice with fellow coach Christina Aguilera.

But then it fell completely off my radar. And, I assumed, neither did anybody else. I dismissed it as a failed attempt to capitalize on a large TV audience. Nice enough song, but instantly forgotten.

Song of the Day #1,109: ‘Sunday Morning’ – Maroon 5

My next batch of posts won’t be as timely as they would have been a few weeks back, but I’ve wanted to do a series of posts related to the NBC show The Voice, so better late than never. This week I’ll feature songs by each of the four coaches and next week I’ll highlight music by the contestants.

The Voice is the first of the millennium’s many talent-based reality shows that I’ve watched, and the reason it appealed to me more than the American Idols and America’s Got Talents of the world is its use of coaches as opposed to judges.

Song of the Day #1,019: ‘If I Never See Your Face Again’ – Maroon 5 & Rihanna

I started Duet Week with two gentlemen of advanced age sharing the mic, but the rest of the week will feature pairings between men and women. And the first of those is this very steamy match-up between Rihanna and Maroon 5’s Adam Levine.

I recently read a Rolling Stone interview with Rihanna in which the writer gushed about how impossibly gorgeous she is in person — unlike many celebrities who turn out to be a product of PhotoShop and packaging, Rihanna’s presence is amplified in the flesh. Where do you sign up for that guy’s job?
