‘Knot Comes Loose’ is the penultimate track on My Morning Jacket’s acclaimed 2005 album, Z. I first jumped on the MMJ bandwagon with the release of 2008’s Evil Urges and later bought Z to catch up on the band’s catalog.
This album didn’t grab me right away and, though I have bought a couple of My Morning Jacket releases in recent years, I abandoned any possibility of going all fanboy over them.
In a sign that I’m nothing if not consistent, I just searched for other mentions of Z on the blog and found that another of its songs came up on a Random Weekend four years ago and I said pretty much the same thing about it then.
Baby, baby, can’t you see that I’m smiling?
Can’t you see there’s a part of me that’s brand new?
Used to be was a part of me felt like hiding
But now it comes through
[Chorus]
Deep in my heart
That’s where the knot comes loose
Deep in my heart
I will remember you
[Verse 2]
All my lovely life I been waiting
Hot heels anticipating
Another love I found
Not to let it down, down
[Chorus]
[Verse 1]
Now it comes through, comes through to you
This sounds a bit like something Neil Young might have done. There’s a similarity in the voice, at least on this song.
