My family returned from our Hawaiian trip only yesterday, so I’m in no condition to jump back into daily blogging just yet. Instead I will treat you to a week of truly creative David Bowie covers.
After I dove into Bowie’s catalog a couple of months back, I intended to offer up a selection of Bowie covers performed as tributes following his death. But I decided instead to feature songs recorded while he was still alive. I like the fact that he got to enjoy these tracks as well.
This week you’ll see a song recorded in outer space, one sung in Portuguese, one performed by a 167-piece orchestra, and two haunting versions of Bowie’s more commercial songs. Every one is a testament to his immense influence on a generation of artists, and generations still to come.
I’ve seen this one before. Very cool.
