An 11-month wait is down to two days. The final eight episodes of my all-time favorite television series kick off this Sunday.
Breaking Bad has been less a TV show and more a religious experience for me over the past two years. Everybody I know who watches the show, from all walks of life, loves it. But it feels particularly suited to me — its Coen Brothers-esque visual style and mastery of tension, matched with dialogue worthy of Elmore Leonard, hit my creative sweet spot with bulls-eye precision.
Going into these last eight episodes, I have a little of the nervousness you get when you so badly want to see somebody stick the landing. But I have such confidence in creator Vince Gilligan and his talented team of writers and actors that I’m mostly just excited to see what happens next.
I am worried, though, about the ultimate fate of Jesse Pinkman, Walter White’s former chemistry student and fellow meth cook. I don’t know if Walt will live or die, but I’m fine either way. I just don’t want anything (else) bad to happen to Jesse.
In honor of Breaking Bad‘s big finish, today’s SOTD is a YouTube tribute to Jesse. I love these fan-made videos when they’re well-assembled like this one. The creator promises to re-edit it after the series finishes its run. I hope it ends well.

Well, since I am one of the few who has missed the boat on this series, but may watch it someday, I am going to do something I haven’t done in my 5 year role as loyal commenter on this blog: not watch the video, as I don’t want to see spoilers. I hope that, as I did with Homeland, I will be able to enjoy this show later when I get a chance to watch it.
Once I get through the series though, I’ll try to remember to get back to this post so I can reclaim my unbroken commenter record.😄
I, too, love the character of Jesse, and hope nothing happens to him as well. He has become more endearing with each season; let’s hope it ends well for him. Thanks for the video!
On my recent vacation, having watched the last episode of “Orange is the New Black”, I asked our Canadian cousins for a good show to start. One of them said, “Breaking Bad is brilliant TV”. OMG, thus started my lastest obsession. I am completely riveted. I tore through Season 1 and now nearly have finished Season 2. In fact, I am irritated that work is getting in the way of my viewing more episodes. I am totally hooked. The brilliant acting, plot, dialogue, subtle humor, etc. I am (no pun intended) totally addicted!
