You have to assume that when the producers of Skyfall, the latest James Bond flick, started discussing the new opening song that Adele was the very first name on their wish list.
I can’t think of a better marriage of voice and material — Adele was born to sing a Bond song. And she delivered a beauty, more than worthy of the great film director Sam Mendes delivered.
I’ve always loved the dreamy, sexy opening credit sequences of Bond films, so retro in their romanticism. They are like mini movies themselves, beautifully setting the stage for the action to come. Skyfall had the best one in recent memory, and a lot of the credit goes to Adele.
Hold your breath and count to ten
Feel the earth move and then
Hear my heart burst again
For this is the end
I’ve drowned and dreamt this moment
So overdue I owe them
Swept away, I’m stolen
Let the sky fall
When it crumbles
We will stand tall
Face it all together
Let the sky fall
When it crumbles
We will stand tall
Face it all together
At skyfall
At skyfall
Skyfall is where we start
A thousand miles and poles apart
Where worlds collide and days are dark
You may have my number, you can take my name
But you’ll never have my heart
Let the sky fall
When it crumbles
We will stand tall
Face it all together
Let the sky fall
When it crumbles
We will stand tall
Face it all together
At skyfall
Where you go I go
What you see I see
I know I’d never be me
Without the security
Of your loving arms
Keeping me from harm
Put your hand in my hand
And we’ll stand
Let the sky fall
When it crumbles
We will stand tall
Face it all together
Let the sky fall
When it crumbles
We will stand tall
Face it all together
At skyfall
Let the sky fall
We will stand tall
At skyfall
I totally agree. Great bond song and the best opening bond scene I’ve seen, possibly ever. Heck, even my Adele hating daughter loves this song!😄
Couldn’t agree more! When I first heard that Adele was singing the opening song, I realized that Adele was the ONLY person who could be singing the opening song. That song and the opening sequence set the tone for what is the best Bond film in ages. It also made me want to go back and listen to all of my favorite Bond songs over the years (theme week request! ;))
