Song of the Day #1,264: ‘Love On Top (Live at the VMAs)’ – Beyoncé

When Beyoncé performed at MTV’s 2011 Video Music Awards shortly after announcing that she was pregnant, she turned a rousing R&B rave-up into the world’s biggest baby shower.

Watching her beam about the “love inside her” and command the stage with even more energy and star power than usual, then unbutton her jacket and run her hand over her baby bump with a wide smile… I wanted to strangle Jay-Z.

No, not really. It was a lovely moment, a celebration of motherhood and girl power and a star’s connection to her fans.

Don’t be surprised, though, if come February the baby bears a curious resemblance to a certain blogger.

Too bad she didn’t do a Demi Moore type pic on the cover of Vogue:)

    There’s still time!

First, I would be very, very surprised.

Second, who is the person the camera keeps finding in the audience? Jay-Z is beaming, and that person is politely applauding. Odd.

Third, what theme are you pursuing this week? Is this your countdown? I’m confused.

Finally, a sweet moment for Beyonce. Thanks for sharing.

I’m guessing you’re not referring to Kanye West, Katy Perry or Adele, so that would leave the slight “fellow” with the drink in his hand. That is Lady Gaga.

This week is a clearinghouse of musical moments I enjoyed in 2011, just a few odds and ends, setting the table for the top ten countdown that starts next week.

Ha! That’s right!!! 😉 Couldn’t figure out what he/she was… and why he/she was related to Beyonce. Now it makes sense. No relation. Just fun to put the camera on the freak show 🙂 Thanks!
