My final entry from the year-end Billboard Hot 100 is yet another country bro in a week of nothing but. This one is Luke Combs’ song from the movie Twisters, ‘Ain’t No Love in Oklahoma.’

My preferred song from the Twisters soundtrack is Miranda Lambert’s ‘I Ain’t in Kansas Anymore,’ but as we’ve seen over the past couple of weeks, country hits are currently solely the purview of the men (and Beyoncé).

Song of the Day #5,518: ‘Fast Car’ – Luke Combs

It’s been four months since my last installment of ‘What the Kids are Listening To,’ so I figured it was a good time for a summer check-in on the Billboard Hot 100.

In the #1 spot, where it has spent a record-tying 15 weeks, is Morgan Wallen’s ‘Last Night.’ The song now shares the record for longest time at #1 by a solo artist (no features) with Harry Styles’ ‘As It Was.’ One more week at #1 and it will own that title outright and join Mariah Carey’s ‘One Sweet Day’ and Luis Fonsi’s ‘Despacito’ as the songs with the second-longest tenure at #1. After that, Lil Nas X’s ‘Old Town Road’ record of 19 weeks at #1 could be in its sights.

Song of the Day #5,310: ‘The Kind of Love We Make’ – Luke Combs

The mid-30s on the year-end Billboard Hot 100 is country bro heaven. Yesterday we had Cody Johnson at #34, and today it’s Luke Combs’ turn at #36. Sandwiched between them is Walker Hayes, whose Applebees-lovin’ ‘Fancy Like‘ became a viral sensation after Hayes and his daughter danced to it in TikTok.

I confuse Luke Combs with Luke Bryan, and neither of them has ever appeared on the blog, so this will be my first exposure to one of the country Lukes.
